About Red Light Camera Citations
Citations issued by automated enforcement systems (red light cameras) are issued to the registered owner of the vehicle involved in the incident. The citations are issued by local law enforcement agencies and mailed to the address provided by DMV within 15 days of the incident. If you are the owner of the vehicle and were not driving at the time the citation was issued contact the law enforcement agency who issued your citation (See section below if you were not the driver.)
Date to Appear
When you receive your copy of the citation from the law enforcement agency it will include a date to appear in court or to pay the bail (fine) amount due.
You must appear or resolve your case by the date on your citation. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Carol Miller Justice Center is closed to the public and in-person appearances are not possible at this time. You may only appear via video conference (Zoom). Click HERE to speak with a clerk at the Virtual Public Counter to request a video conference appearance. You must have your case number and picture identification available. Alternatively, you may call (916) 875-7800. Assistance is available 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding court holidays.
Failure to appear or resolve your case will result in additional penalties being added to your fine.

If you were not the driver
A picture of the person driving the vehicle at the time the citation was issued appears on the citation you receive from the law enforcement agency. If you were not the driver you must take action. Contact the agency who issued the citation or click HERE to obtain assistance from a clerk at the Virtual Public Counter on or before the due date listed at the bottom of the citation.Do not send payment to the court if you were not the driver. The agency will contact the court with the correct driver information. If you fail to contact the agency or do not appear on or before the date listed at the bottom of the citation, additional penalties will be added to your case and your driver's license will be suspended.
