As of June 17, 2024, the Sacramento Superior Court has expanded electronic filing to Small Claims cases at the Carol Miller Justice Center. Although electronic filing is optional for all parties, the court encourages it to ensure documents are processed in a timely manner. There may be a delay in processing documents not submitted electronically.
How to Begin
Step 1: Locate Your Documents
Start by locating the documents available to file electronically. Documents submitted using the incorrect document name may be rejected.
Notice: There are specific rules for serving out-of-state defendants. It is suggested to obtain legal advice before electronically filing.
Step 2: Select an Electronic Filing Service Provider (EFSP)
An electronic filing service provider is a third-party vendor that processes payments for court filings and electronically transfers submitted information and documents to the court. The submitting party is responsible for including all necessary information and documentation to avoid a rejection by the court.
Notice: The electronic filing service provider may charge transaction/convenience fees; however, these fees are waived for parties with an active fee waiver, government agencies, and court-appointed counsel.
