Sacramento, CA — The Sacramento Superior Court will discontinue downtown Night Court operations effective April 27, 2026.

Under this change, the Sacramento Superior Court will discontinue Night Court arraignments and transition all first-time arraignments to daytime calendars. Arraignments previously conducted during Night Court will instead be heard at 1:30 p.m. in the following home court departments:

Department 4B
Department 5A
Department 61
Department 62
Department 63

This transition aligns with the opening of the new Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye Sacramento Superior Courthouse and is intended to streamline court operations.

Key Changes Include:

• Night Court arraignments will be discontinued effective April 27.
• First-time arraignments for misdemeanor, felony, and specialty court cases will be reassigned to 1:30 p.m. calendars in home court departments Monday through Friday.
• Live streaming of first-time arraignments will be discontinued.

Night Court arraignments and live streaming were originally implemented in August 2020 as part of a pretrial program established during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Domestic violence arraignments will not be affected by this change and will continue to be held in Department 60.

In addition, Night Court operations held at the Carol Miller Justice Center on the second Wednesday of each month will continue and are not affected by this transition.
