Gov. Newsom Announces Appointment to the Sacramento Superior Court

Gov. Gavin Newsom today announced Jose Olivera’s appointment to the Sacramento Superior Court bench.

“Jose Olivera’s appointment to the bench honors a career marked by excellence, integrity, and service,” said Sacramento Superior Court Presiding Judge Bunmi O. Awoniyi. “His depth of experience and commitment to justice will strengthen the Sacramento County bench.”

Olivera, of Yolo County, has worked as a Director & Associate General Counsel at Meta Platforms, Inc. since 2019. 

Previously, Olivera served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the U.S. Attorney’s Office, for the Northern District of California from 2014 to 2019. Before that, he worked as a trial attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice from 2011 to 2014 in Washington D.C.

Olivera served in the U.S. Air Force from 2002 to 2008. He received a Bachelor of Arts in History from UC Santa Barbara, and his Juris Doctor from the UC Davis School of Law.

Olivera fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Andre K. Campbell.
