The Court will be closed on Monday, April 1st in observance of César Chávez Day

In the lobby is a display case commemorating Judge William R. Ridgeway, for whom the courthouse is dedicated. "An uncommon, common man," a term once used to describe him, is very descriptive of both the man and the judge. His experiences as a Sacramento City Police Officer and District Attorney for the County of Sacramento gave him a wisdom tempered by common sense and tolerance that served him well in his 13+ years on the Municipal and Superior Court benches. As a Family Law Judge, he had compassion and a great understanding of the needs of families. He was elected as Presiding Judge in 1995 and 1996 and was selected as Judge of the Year by the Sacramento Bar Association in 1996. Although he was born in Oklahoma, he was a local boy who attended McClatchy High School, Sacramento City College, and graduated from McGeorge School of Law.
